This environmental project is a part of the South Carolina Oyster Recycling and Enhancement Program (SCORE). SCORE is a community-based habitat restoration and monitoring program of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).
Club members meet to fill bags with open oyster shells for use later in the year to create new oyster habitat areas, thereby enhancing the area’s oyster population by encouraging the growth of baby oyster spat, as well as protecting the adjacent shoreline from erosion.
