The Breakfast Club has a Rotary Endowment fund (set up by John Winthrop years ago) that is focused on planting trees in Charleston Parks to beautify our parks and public greenspace. The fund is managed by the Coastal Community Foundation in cooperation with the Charleston Parks Conservancy.
We will be gathering on the King Street side of Marion Square a few minutes before 9:30 a.m. The Parks Conservancy will provide basic tools, but you should consider bringing a shovel, maybe a trowel and gloves just in case. Closed-toed shoes are recommended, along with water and clothing you won’t mind getting dirty.
Our role will be to help with some of the digging, placing the trees and shrubs in the holes and shoveling the dirt back around the trees and shrubs.
Note: Everyone participating is required to fill out the volunteer waiver in advance. When the form requires a “Corporate/Community Group”, please select ‘Charleston Breakfast Rotary Club’.
