Special Visitors from France Make for a Festive and Lively Rotary Meeting

This morning, Friday March 3rd, the Rotary Club of Charleston-Breakfast welcomed Charleston Mayor Tecklenburg and a special delegation of officials (including their Mayor, pictured left at the podium) from “sister-city” Flers de L’Orne, France. Attendees experienced a number of speakers describing the historical relationship between the City of Charleston and the Town of Flers that started in 1948. Flers is located in the southern part of Normandy and was devastated during WWII. Charleston started a US City “adoption” program in 1948 by shipping over 100 tons of supplies to Flers to help in their recovery efforts.
