The Rotary Club of Charleston-Breakfast coordinated and funded an event called “Happy Feet” on Sunday, October 17, 2016. “This is a program that provides and distributes shoes for students who attend title 1 elementary schools Sanders Clyde and Memminger Elementary.” said Edward Scarborough, Community Service Chairperson of the Rotary Club of Charleston-Breakfast and longtime resident of Charleston spearheaded the project.
The two schools are also where club members read to the students on a weekly basis and contribute books to building their libraries in lieu of speaker gifts. Happy Feet was a great success when several Rotarians helping over 50 kids pick-out shoes at Rack Room shoes on King Street.
