Dear Club Presidents, Club Secretaries and District Membership Chairs,
I am very pleased to announce that Zones 33 & 34 were the recipient of a $15,000 Renew Rotary grant awarded as a part of RI’s Young Professionals Campaign! On June 10th and 11th these funds will be used to conduct the Southland Young Professionals Summit in Atlanta, GA on the Georgia Tech campus!
The vision of the summit is to inspire young professional Rotarians and Rotaractors to share their ideas for growth and innovative practices, and work with district leadership to understand and engage these ideas as a part of a membership growth strategy.
Each district ideally will be represented by 3 young professionals and 1 district leader. The young professionals, who must be current Rotarians or Rotaractors, will be selected through a competitive application process and one district leader from each district as appointed by the district governor. You can view the application and summit information on the event’s website: www.southlandyps.org. I encourage you to disseminate this information to your clubs so that we have maximum participation!
What is your role? Promote the summit to as many young professionals in your club and district as possible! Feel free to link to the summit’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/southlandyps/ ) for social media engagement! There is no maximum number of applications that can be submitted at the club or district level, so encourage your young professionals to apply! For questions about eligibility, please visit the website. Our Young Professionals Committee will then select the top three young professionals from each district to attend. We are looking for the very best young talent from your clubs and district.
* There is no cost to your club/ district for the Summit. The only cost for participants include transportation to the event, parking, and two nights of accommodations at the Georgia Tech Hotel & Conference Center.
* Two members of the Young Professionals Committee have been selected to promote awareness, field questions from YPs, and participate in selection of your young professionals. Periodically, they may contact you to see if they can help you in the process of identifying, selecting and nominating your young professional team. They are:
- Zone 33 Coordinator: Joyce McKinney (D7710), email@example.com
- Zone 34 Coordinator: Ben Hunter (D6900), firstname.lastname@example.org
Please reach out to either Joyce or Ben for any questions, comments or clarifications you may have regarding this event.
Greetings from your Regional Membership Officer,
