Ed Duryea, District 7770 Governor for 2012-2013, has been a Rotarian for 37 years. He joined the Beaufort Rotary Club in 1975 and served as president in 1978-79. He was a founding member of the Sea Island Rotary Club in 1980. At the district level he has served on the district conference, finance, and nominating committees, chaired the disaster preparedness and world peace committees, and served as assistant governor. Ed is a Major Donor, Ten Star Rotarian, and a member of the Paul Harris Society and the Bequest Society. He is an RLI graduate and was a polio NID volunteer to Nigeria.
In addition to his involvement in Rotary, Ed has been active in his church and in numerous community organizations including 20 years on the State Ethics Commission. He is a graduate of Texas A&M and the University of Oklahoma. He also has an RN degree from the local technical college which he has used in various short-term mission trips. He is retired from the Air Force Reserves. Ed is a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto from Governor Carroll Campbell, “Citizen of the Year” from the S.C. School Boards Association, and Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts.
